Police: Man Found Fatally Shot In Gastonia, Homicide Investigation Underway

GASTONIA, N.C. — A 49-year-old man was fatally shot Sunday evening in Gastonia sparking a homicide investigation, according to police.

Gastonia Police responded to Shannon Bradley Road around 8:15 p.m. after reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found a man with a gunshot wound.

Police say the victim, identified as Virgil Stokes Jr. of Gastonia, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives from the Gastonia Police Department are actively investigating this incident and asking for assistance from the public.
