ALEXANDER COUNTY, N.C. — A 21-year-old Taylorsville man has been arrested after he was accused of slicing another person’s neck Sunday afternoon, according to the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to a home on Hill River Road, in the Hiddenite Community, around 4:45 p.m. after a call for service about an assault involving a knife. Upon arrival, deputies located the victim who had a laceration to the neck area. The person sought treatment at a local medical facility.
According to a news release, after an investigation officials identified Christopher James Sturgill as the suspect in the case. Sturgill had fled from the residence before officers arrived at the scene.
Warrants were drawn on Sturgill, and he was located a short time later.
Deputies say Sturgill was arrested and charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury. Sturgill was also served with a warrant for failure to appear.
Sturgill was placed under a $51,000 secured bond.
