Wednesday pollen update:
Tree pollen is very high. Moderate levels for grass and mold.
Strong winds and low relative humidity continue to bring an increased fire danger to the WCCB area. Red Flag Warning in effect until 8 PM. Click here for Fire Danger Story.
Temperatures drop quickly in wake of a cold front Wednesday night into Thursday morning with overnight lows bottoming out in the low to mid-30s across the Piedmont and upper 20s to low 30s across the Mountains and portions of the Foothills. With sub-freezing temperatures in the forecast, there is a Freeze Warning in effect late Wednesday through Thursday morning for our North Carolina counties and a Frost Advisory in effect for our South Carolina counties. The winds may help prevent widespread frost Thursday morning, but a freeze and some frost is still likely. With calmer winds on Friday morning, more frost is likely. Be sure to bring your plants and pets inside. If you cannot bring the plants in, cover them with a sheet. Click here for tips on how to protect your plants and when you’ll need to do so.
Our next best chance for rain will be Saturday. This rain will likely be numerous to widespread as models project 0.50”-1.5” of rain to fall. If you have outdoor plans on Saturday, I would move them to Sunday or have an inside plan B.
Tonight: Patchy Frost. Low: 33. Wind: NW 10-20. ** Protect plants and pets
Thursday: AM Patchy Frost. Sunny skies and well below average. Highs: Low to mid-60s. Wind: W/NW 5-15.
