CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte Mecklenburg detectives say four juveniles are under arrest for their involvement in a series of armed robberies and auto thefts in the Charlotte area.
Officers say on April 16th around 9 p.m. they responded to the first armed robbery in this series on Timber Oaks Lane.
When officers arrived at the scene, they say a victim told them he was delivering food when one suspect approached him and pointed a firearm at him, before stealing personal items from the victim.
The victim says two more suspects then approached him and attempted to take his vehicle, but were unable to do so, and were seen leaving the scene on foot.
On April 17th around 2 p.m., officers say they responded to the next armed robbery on Chasewood Drive.
Upon arrival, officers say the victim said she was unloading groceries from her car when she was approached by a suspect with a firearm who demanded her wallet.
The victim says the suspect took her wallet and car keys before fleeing the scene in her vehicle.
On April 19th around 6 a.m., officers responded to a stolen vehicle call for service on Eastcrest Drive, and when they arrived, the victim said an unknown suspect stole her car while it was left running and unattended in her apartment complex parking lot.
Police say the victim’s vehicle was recovered in the Hickory Grove Division shortly after the incident around 7 a.m.
Shortly after 2 p.m. on April 19th, officers say they received a hit for the vehicle involved in the armed robbery on April 17th.
Officers say they located the vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop near the Timber Springs and Monroe Road area, but the vehicle refused to stop, and a pursuit ensued.
Police say the pursuit ended near Carriage Drive Circle where four occupants jumped out and attempted to flee on foot, but were arrested with help from the Aviation Unit and Canine Unit.
Police say one juvenile in this case was taken to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office Jail north and charged with armed robbery and auto theft. The three other juveniles were charged with armed robbery, possession of a stolen vehicle, resisting, obstruction, delaying, and felony conspiracy to commit robbery.
The investigation into this case remains active and ongoing.
