ROCK HILL, S.C. — Police have determined the death of 19-year-old, who was shot and killed during an altercation early Saturday morning in Rock Hill, as justified.
Officers say they responded to the shooting at an apartment on Eagles Place around 4:26 a.m. on April 24th, and upon arrival, they found a 19-year-old man suffering from two gunshot wounds who later died at the scene.
Detectives say a verbal altercation was initiated by the 19-year-old victim with others in the apartment, and escalated when he began to assault those inside the apartment while threatening to kill them.
The deceased man then began to strangle another man who he had just assaulted, when he was shot by another person in the apartment attempting to stop the attack, according to a news release.
Detectives say he then began strangling a woman inside the home after being shot, when he was shot a second time and collapsed.
Investigators say after consulting with the York County Solicitors Office, they have determined the shooting was in self-defense and therefore no charges will be made.
