Catawba County Library Celebrates Star Wars On May 4th With Virtual Programs

NEWTON, N.C. — Catawba County Library officials say they will hold family-friendly virtual programs in celebration of Star Wars on May 4th.

Officials say on Tuesday, May 4th at 4 p.m. the library is hosting a STEAM program to teach participants how to make their own LED lightsaber card using LED lights, coin cell batteries, and other simple materials.

Participants are encouraged to dress up as their favorite Star Wars character for the Zoom program, and officials say to register here or call 828-465-8665 to get the materials kit sent to you ahead of time.

At 6 p.m. on May 4th, officials say the library will host a Star Wars: Skywalker Saga Virtual Movie Trivia Night, where competitors will be asked to test their knowledge of the saga’s nine films against others during the Zoom.

Officials say the Zoom session will accommodate up to 25 teams or individuals, and to click here or call 828-465-8665 to register.

Zoom links will be emailed out the day before the program.

To refresh your memory before the trivia competition, library officials say participants can check out the Star Wars DVDs, books, and can reserve them through the online catalog here.
