Warm & Windy Friday, Increased Fire Danger

Fire Weather Watches and Warnings have been posted for much of the WCCB Charlotte viewing area.

We had our first real summer-like day on Thursday between the heat and humidity, but more seasonable conditions return as we head into the weekend. A dry cold front swept through the Carolinas overnight, leading to windy conditions and a drastic drop in humidity as we close out April. The dry air moving in will be nice, but it leads to its own set of problems as fire danger sharply increases through the first half of the weekend. Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged. Outside of the higher burning risk, the next three days look gorgeous overall. More clouds will move into the WCCB viewing area by Sunday, but rain chances remain minimal through the weekend. A series of rainmaking systems will keep things on the wetter side for the first week of May, so enjoy the sunshine and drier air for the time being.
