Police: 19-Year-Old Seriously Injured In Shooting On The Mooresville Dragstrip

MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Deputies with the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office say a 19-year-old man was seriously injured in a shooting on the Mooresville Dragstrip Sunday morning.

Police say Caleb Allison, 19, was struck by a bullet in the area of his lower chest during the incident, and he is now in the hospital, where he is to remain for several more days, as medics determine if he needs surgery to repair internal damage.

Deputies say they responded to reports of the shooting at the dragship, located on Wilkinson Road in Mooresville, on May 2nd around 11 a.m.

At the scene, police say they found a male victim with a gunshot wound, later identified as Allison, and took him to a local hospital to be treated.

Investigators say the shooting occurred near the tower at the dragship, after an altercation broke out between several individuals.

Detectives say they were able to speak with Allison, but he provided very little information and was overall uncooperative with police.

The investigation into this case remains active and ongoing.
