Summer-Like Pattern Arises

Some communities could be touch-and-go with the 90s on Tuesday.

After a picture-perfect start to the month, things will be getting hot, humid, and stormy as we head into the first workweek of May. A series of rainmaking systems will sweep into the Carolinas through the first half of the week as temperatures soar into the upper 80s in the Piedmont and Foothills. Some areas may have a crack at the 90s on Tuesday, thanks to impressive breezes out of the southwest. Unfortunately, the heat won’t be the only thing visiting us this week. Some of the most humid air we’ve seen all year sticks around through Wednesday before a cold front flushes it out for the back half of the week. For now, the weekend looks mainly dry with 60s and 70s for highs.
