Police: 2 Men Charged For Shooting At One Another Inside Carolina Place Mall

There’s a heightened police presence at Carolina Place Mall days after two men fired gunshots at each other, as shoppers ran for cover.

Shoppers returned to the mall Monday following the incident.  Pineville Police tells WCCB News they will have increased patrols at the mall, and are looking into long-range plans to address crimes throughout the business district.

Brookfield Properties, which owns Carolina Place Mall, issued this statement:

“We are disheartened and angered by the incident that happened in our shopping center on Saturday.  While we do not publicly discuss our security protocols, we can reassure our community that we are constantly reviewing our security protocols.”

Officers with the Pineville Police Department say two men face charges for shooting at each other inside Carolina Place Mall on Saturday afternoon.

Kevion Harris, 32, and Jamie Williams, 24, will both be charged for possession of a firearm by a felon and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury, after they are released from the hospital for injuries sustained in the shooting.

Police say the two began shooting at each other after getting into an altercation inside the mall around 5 p.m., and both individuals received gunshot wounds in this case.

Both shoppers and employees were evacuated from the mall located in Pineville after reports of the shooting.

PINEVILLE, N.C. – Police say two people were injured during a shooting at Carolina Place Mall on Saturday afternoon.

Pineville Police say it appears two people began shooting at each other just before 5:00 p.m.

Witnesses say it happened near the food court.

Investigators say one of the people injured in the shooting was taken to the hospital and has non-life threatening injuries.

A second person who was injured transported themselves to the hospital.

MEDIC says another person was taken to the hospital due to a medical complaint.

Officials cleared the mall, and as of Saturday night, police say they are not looking for any other suspects in this shooting.
