CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A record has just been broken in the Pacific. Tropical Storm Andres formed late Sunday morning, become the earliest tropical cyclone to ever develop in the history of eastern Pacific recordkeeping. Andres beat out 2017’s Tropical Storm Adrian by one day to claim the record. As of the latest update at 11:00 PM Sunday, the fledgling storm is packing core winds at 40 mph, which is a low-end tropical storm. The first Pacific storm of the year is currently located a few hundred miles off of the western coast of Mexico. Andres is not a threat to land as turns northwestward out to sea and encounters colder water and disruptive shearing winds.
