Local North Carolina Based Nonprofit, Vision Express, Responds to COVID-19 Crisis In India

CHARLOTTE, NC (News Release) — The COVID situation in India is dire. India’s health system is on the brink of collapse. Hospitals across the country are running out of oxygen supplies, ventilators and beds. People are rushing to buy drugs like remdesivir, causing the price to surge and pharmacies to run out of the drug. Labs are struggling to keep up with the growing backlog of COVID-19 tests. This escalating crisis is devasting the country and is driven by a more easily transmitted variant of COVID-19, with 400,000+ new cases every day.

In response to this crisis, Vision Express, a North Carolina based nonprofit that has supported healthcare in India for the past ten years, has set a goal of raising $1,000,000 to provide oxygen concentrators to at least 50 hospitals/NGOs in India.

Dolly and Rakesh Agarwal and their daughter, Aanchal A. Gupta, all founders of Vision Express and founders of Rug and Home are contributing $250,000 towards this initiative. The goal is to raise the balance of the million dollars in the next 4 weeks. 100%of all donations will go towards providing oxygen concentrators.
