CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Camino Center, a local Charlotte nonprofit, is working with Walmart to distribute 2,400 COVID-19 vaccines to the Charlotte community during its two-week vaccination event.
Officials say the vaccines will be distributed from Monday, May 17th to Friday, May 28th, from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m., at Camino’s campus located on Stetson Drive in Charlotte.
Officials say the goal is to administer at least 240 vaccines per day.
Walmart officials say they decided to partner with Camino due to the trust the nonprofit has gained in the Charlotte Latino community, and during the event, Camino will have bilingual staff on site to help fill out paperwork or to answer any questions.
Officials say the goal of the vaccination event is to provide people with the opportunity to get the vaccine as well as provide necessary information to help people make informed health decisions.
“Walmart is excited to work with Camino to help vaccinate the Charlotte community,” said Michelle Belaire, Senior Director of Community Affairs at Walmart.”Walmart is committed to providing access and information on the COVID-19 vaccine to members of our communities, and partnerships like this one are important.”
Camino officials say this will be the sixth vaccination event it holds on its campus.
“As an organization, we’re thankful to have held the number of vaccination events that we have. Now, we’re even more grateful to partner with such a well–established organization like Walmart to continue to provide hope, health, and healing to our community,” said Rusty Price, CEO, and Founder of Camino Center.
