CMPD: Two Charged For Catalytic Converter Theft In Chantilly Neighborhood
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg detectives have charged two people for their involvement in a recent larceny from an automobile in Charlotte’s Chantilly neighborhood.
Officers conducted a directed patrol in the neighborhood on May 11 in response to several recent auto thefts. Around 3:30 a.m., officers saw a man running from one vehicle and enter into another vehicle.
When officers approached the car they found 25-year-old Oh Roo and 30-year-old Het A inside the vehicle. When they talked to both suspects, officers found evidence indicating that both men were attempting to remove a catalytic converter from a nearby vehicle.
Roo and A were arrested and following an interview with detectives they both were charged with felony larceny and injury to property to obtain non-ferrous metals, according to CMPD.
Detectives are actively reviewing additional cases to determine if Roo and A may have been involved.
The investigation into this case is active and ongoing.
