Ellen Makes It Official: Her Talk Show Will Come To An End

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Ellen DeGeneres has officially announced that her talk show is ending in 2022. On Thursday, the 63-year-old broke the news during her opening monologue. She says her instincts led her to believe that after she signed her previous contract, that Season 19 would be the last.

The news comes after DeGeneres spent the last year battling accusations of a toxic work environment. The accusations led to multiple producers and directors leaving the show.

DeGeneres sat down with the one and only Oprah to talk about how she’s feeling. Oprah says, “…It’s one thing to know in your heart, but to hear the words yourself, but also telling the crew, I’m sure you did this already, you did this at another time. How was that?” Ellen replied, “It was hard, I told the crew and told the staff and there were tears and it was really hard because I do love everyone here, we do have a relationship and it’s every single day for me. I come in here and this is my life and theirs too.”

DeGeneres says she wanted to give the crew a full year to prepare and to celebrate the final season with her.

Our question of the night: are you sad to see Ellen go?
