CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation after one person was shot and killed in northwest Charlotte Monday afternoon.
Police responded around 1 p.m. to Celia Avenue, off of Beatties Ford Road, after receiving an assault with a deadly weapon call for service. When officers arrived, they located a man suffering from a gunshot wound.
MEDIC transported the victim, identified as 21-year-old Devonte Washington, to a local hospital where he has since been pronounced dead.
The investigation into this case is active and ongoing.
