Girl Scout Event Held To Honor 29 Young Women Who Earned The Girl Scout Gold Award

CHARLOTTE, NC — An event was held to honor the outstanding achievements of 29 young women who have earned the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest award for young women in Girl Scouting.

Ten of these young women were selected as recipients of the GSHNC Endowed Scholarships. Winners were from the 8 county area served by the Girl Scouts Hornet’s Nest Council in Charlotte, NC.

Aisha Dew, currently serving on the coordinating committee for the Charlotte Commission on Reconciliation and Equity (CORE) to address racial and economic inequality and the first African-American woman elected to be vice chair of the North Carolina Democratic Party, was the Keynote Speaker.
