YORK CO., S.C. — Troopers say a man has been charged in a fatal five-vehicle collision that occurred Sunday afternoon in York County, after a woman was killed and one other person was injured.
Police say 68-year-old Robert Ormand is charged with a felony DUI causing death, a felony DUI causing great bodily injury, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and possession of cocaine for his involvement.
On May 16th, troopers say they responded to the five-vehicle pileup on U.S. 21 near Galleria Boulevard around 4:38 p.m.
Troopers say a pickup truck and three motorcycles were sitting at a traffic light on Sunday when Ormand, driving a 2016 Honda Sedan, rear-ended one of the motorcycles.
The motorcycle then hit the pickup truck, which hit the two other motorcycles, according to a news release.
Police say the passenger on the first motorcycle, Amanda Wilson, died at the scene after being thrown from the 2006 Harley Davidson. The driver was taken to the hospital for injuries sustained in the crash.
