Hot & Dry Weekend On Tap

Heatwave building across the Carolinas

Hot, dry and repeat.
With mostly clear skies this evening, overnight low temperatures will bottom out near 60 degrees. This will be the “coolest” temperatures we will see for the next week! Some neighborhoods could see their first 90 degree day on Saturday with others flirting with it! The highs do not stop there though. Temperatures continue to rise with mid 90s likely by next week. This hot pattern is also going to be a dry one so be sure to water your gardens and lawn. Drought conditions have expanded in NC to 66% of the state. Next week could be worse with a week of hot and dry weather. This has been the driest spring since 2016.

A couple heat safety reminders:
– Look before you lock!!
– Remember the 7 second rule when walking your pets on the hot pavement and concrete. If you place your hand on the surface for 7 seconds and it is too hot for you, it is too hot for them.

Tonight: Mostly clear. Low: 60. Wind: E/NE 5-10.

Saturday: Mostly sunny. High: 90. Wind: N/NW 5.

Sunday: Sunny skies. High: 92. Wind: N/NW 5.

Have a wonderful weekend! Stay cool, hydrated and safe!
