CMPD: 23-Year-Old Charged For Fatal Northeast Charlotte Shooting

A man has been charged after a 26-year-old was shot and killed in northeast Charlotte Monday afternoon, according to police.

Following a continued investigation, police identified 23-year-old Ron Neal as a suspect in the homicide case of Rashawn Pitt.

Neal was apprehended on Wednesday by detectives with the assistance of the Dallas Police Department in North Carolina. Following an interview with detectives, Neal was transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and charged with First Degree Murder, according to CMPD.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A 26-year-old man was fatally shot in northeast Charlotte Monday afternoon sparking a homicide investigation, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Officers responded to Charger Court around 5 p.m. after receiving an assault with a deadly weapon call for service. Upon arrival, CMPD found the victim, identified as Rashawn Pitt, suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the hospital by Medic where he has since been pronounced dead by staff, police said.

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing.
