You Can Now Hide “Likes” On Your Instagram & Facebook Posts

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Instagram and Facebook users can now hide the public “likes” their posts receive. This move could bring an end to a dynamic that ties likes to the influence a person has on social media. Instagram has been testing the ability to hide likes since 2019, in an attempt to make posting less stressful.

This is also a way to fight back against criticisms about how social media platforms can cause tensions for its users and society overall. The option to hide likes on Facebook and Instagram is optional, so it will take time to determine how many people will take this action.

Our question of the night: are you going to disable the “likes” feature on your Instagram?
