16-Year-Old Arrested, Charged As Second Suspect In North Charlotte Homicide Case

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A 16-year-old was arrested and charged Thursday with murder in a north Charlotte homicide case that happened in April 2021, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.

Officers were dispatched to McArthur Avenue on April 20 around 9:15 p.m. in response to a call for service involving a person who was reportedly shot. Upon arrival, officers located a victim with was suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim, identified as 28-year-old Harry Brown, was transported to the hospital by Medic where he was pronounced dead.

Through an investigation, 22-year-old Elijah Carr was identified as a suspect in the case by detectives and warrants were issued for his arrest. Carr was located and arrested on April 22. He was then transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and charged with first-degree murder.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department through a continued investigation, identified a 16-year-old juvenile as a suspect in the Brown homicide case and a Secure Custody Order was issued for his arrest. The  juvenile voluntarily turned themselves in at the Law Enforcement Center Thursday. After an interview, the juvenile was transferred to a local juvenile detention facility and charged with murder.

This is an ongoing, active investigation.
