CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg officers saved a woman Monday night after she tried to commit suicide in south Charlotte.
On May 17th around 8 p.m., officers say the responded to a road rage incident on Providence Road West to speak with the reporting person.
The reporting person, the victim in this case, told officers she encountered her former girlfriend while driving and did not feel safe returning home.
Officers say they escorted the victim to her home for her safety.
Once officers arrived at her residence and approached her car, the woman remained in her car and appeared to be in distress, according to police.
Seconds later, police say the woman pulled out a large folding knife and proceeded to slash her own neck.
Officers say they responded immediately by breaking out the passenger side window to render aid to the victim.
Officers applied pressure to the wound on her neck and offered medical assistance until medics arrived at the scene.
Police say the victim was then taken to a local hospital for further treatment.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say if not for the quick actions from Officers Carr, Spears, and Woods, a suicidal woman’s injuries would have resulted in death.
