Temps Cooling Down, Rain Chances Going Up
Highs may struggle to get out of the 50s and 60s for our Sunday before a recovery on Memorial Day.
Another scorcher fried the WCCB Charlotte viewing area on Friday – we topped out in the 90s for the fifth time in six days – but big changes are coming to the forecast in time for Memorial Day weekend. Another round of scattered storms will likely crop up for the first half of the holiday weekend as a cold front sweeps into the area, but temperatures should still top out near-average in the 70s and 80s. A BIG cooldown is in store for us on Sunday. Much cooler continental air paired with winds from the north will make it a struggle for many of us to get out of the 50s and 60s Sunday afternoon and evening. While a few stray showers are possible for the Coca-Cola 600, green flag conditions will largely persist well into the night. Highs should recover back into the 70s and 80s for Memorial Day as sunny skies and comfortable conditions set up shop through the first half of the week. Rain chances return again by the first weekend of June.
