Naomi Osaka Pulls Out Of The French Open

Naomi Osaka focuses on mental health and resigns from French Open.

Tennis star Naomi Osaka has pulled out of the French Open. The four-time major champion made the announcement on social media so, “Everyone can get back to focusing on the tennis going on in Paris.” Her decision comes a day after she was fined $15,000 for not talking to media after her straight sets victory on Sunday. Osaka announced last week that she would not take part in press coverage during the French Open, citing mental health reasons. The Japanese star revealed she suffered long bouts of depression since her first Grand Slam win in 2018.

WCCB News Edge producer Brandon Refour spoke with a doctor in Columbia who celebrates Osaka for choosing herself over anything else.
