Holmes is charged with armed robbery, misdemeanor hit and run, reckless driving, driving while impaired, felony death by vehicle, felony hit and run, and second degree murder for his involvement in this case, according to a news release.

Officers say shortly before 8:30 a.m. on June 3rd, they noticed a car being operated recklessly while leaving a Family Dollar.

Police say the suspect car was seen speeding down Beatties Ford Road, weaving in and out of traffic, when the driver lost control and struck a bus stop enclosure with a man seated inside.

Authorities say the man waiting at the bus stop, identified as 57-year-old Henry Miller, died from his injuries shortly after being taken to a local hospital.

Detectives say the driver of the suspect vehicle, Holmes, attempted to flee on foot after the crash, but was quickly taken into custody.

Detectives say their initial investigation revealed Holmes stole property from the Family Dollar by threatening to have a firearm, then left the scene in his black 1995 Dodge Ram and was seen speeding in and out of traffic on Beatties Ford Road.

Investigators say Holmes hit another car before crashing into the bus stop enclosure with the man seated inside, and toxicology results are pending.

The investigation into this case remains active and ongoing.

Police ask any witnesses to the crash to call Detective Pressley at 704-432-2169 or Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
