Wettest Day at CLT in 207 Days

June 7th, 2021 was the wettest day since November 12th, 2020 at CLT.

With a tropical air mass overhead, Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) had it’s wettest day since November 12th, 2020 which was 207 days ago!

There are many neighborhoods that have picked up 2+” both Sunday and Monday and there is more where that came from! With a big Bermuda high pressure anchored in the Atlantic and an area of low pressure to our west, the week ahead will be hot and humid with scattered showers and storms. This is a very typical summertime pattern. If you get caught under one of these torrential downpours, it is likely you’ll pick up 1”+ in a short period of time, but not every single neighborhood will.

Storm Dark

With weather setups like this, it is important to remember a couple of sayings:

  1. When thunder roars, go indoors
  2. Turn around, don’t drown

Stay WeatherWise and don’t forget to download the WCCB Weather App. You’ll get the latest warnings and be able to interactively track showers and storms.
