Charlotte Man Gets 25 Years In 2018 Gunshot Slaying In SC

GAFFNEY, S.C. — A Charlotte man was sentenced to 25 years in prison in the death of a man who was shot to death while driving, authorities said Monday.

Salvador Marquez, 35, received the sentence after pleading guilty to voluntary manslaughter and a gun charge in the death of Matthew Littlejohn, 33, of Spartanburg in Cherokee County, prosecutors said in a statement.

With a record that includes convictions for marijuana trafficking and robbery, Marquez must serve at least 85% of the term before being considered for early release.

A car followed a vehicle driven by Littlejohn as he left a convenience store on Jan. 23, 2018, news outlets reported. Three gunshots were fired into Littlejohn’s vehicle, the statement said, and one killed him.

Sheriff’s deputies used surveillance video from surrounding businesses to piece together events that led to the shooting, prosecutors said.
