Waking up to patchy fog across the region. Temps range from the 60s in the mountains to the low 70s across the Piedmont. It will be even steamier today with temps reaching the upper 80s, but it will feel more like the 90s. Isolated to widely scattered storms this afternoon. Showers and strong storms in the forecast to end the week. Flash flooding threat goes up Thursday into Friday ahead of a cold front. Storms will likely be able to produce rainfall rates of 1-2″+ per hour. The biggest threat for localized flooding late in the week will be for areas north of I-85. Severe threat going up slightly as well with damaging wind being the main threat with storms Friday that fire up. Cold front will bring a teeny drop in temps and humidity levels beginning Saturday with highs reaching the mid 80s and overnight lows falling to the upper 60s this weekend. Isolated storm chances will remain in the forecast. Available moisture will drop off significantly Sunday into early next week and although isolated storm chances will remain in the forecast, the localized flooding threat won’t be as much of a concern.
