Police: 20-Year-Old Charlotte Man Dies After Losing Control Of Dirt Bike In Mint Hill

MINT HILL, N.C. — Police say a 20-year-old Charlotte man died on Wednesday after losing control of his dirt bike and crashing into the side of a pick-up truck in Mint Hill .

Authorities say the name of the 20-year-old victim will not be released until his family is notified and he was not wearing a helmet.

Police say they responded to the crash around 4:16 p.m. on Lawyers Road to find one patient, that had been riding an off-road dirt bike, receiving medical treatment from members with the Mint Hill Fire Department

Officers say the victim was not conscious and appeared to be seriously injured when they arrived at the scene. The victim later died at the hospital.

Detectives say the victim was traveling on a private gravel driveway when he lost control and slid into Lawyers Road and into a pick-up truck that was heading northwest.

Police say the truck driver attempted to stop the crash, but was unsuccessful.

The truck driver stayed at the scene and was not injured, according to a news release.

Detectives say at this time no charges are expected to be filed.

Police say Lawyers Road was closed for two hours while detectives investigated.
