CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Unknown Brewing Company announced on Friday that they will be selling their Charlotte location in order to focus on their Ginger Ale Company.
Owner Brad Shell went on Facebook to say how much he has enjoyed the last eight years serving the Charlotte community, but for his mental health, it’s time to focus on one business instead of five.

Shell says The Unknown Brewing Company is currently running five businesses including a brewery, taproom, distillery, ginger ale company, and a food truck.
Shell says coming out of the pandemic, his hope is to spend more time with his family by transitioning The Unknown Brewing Company into one business, The Unknown Ginger Ale Company.
Operations at the brewery are expected to wind down by the end of the summer, with HopFly Brewing of Rocky Mount, N.C. taking over the space this fall.
Shell says “This isn’t a goodbye letter by any means. We ain’t going out of business tomorrow. This is the announcement of a farewell tour. We are going to ride the adventure into the unknown all the way through the end of summer.”
Shell says he is excited to take a step back from the brewery business he has been in for over 18 years, and focus on producing one product he is extremely proud of.
