Edge: Students Sue University Over Vaccination Policy
Students sue over school's Covid-19 vaccination policy
Students at Indiana University have filed a federal lawsuit, suing the school over its Covid-19 vaccination requirement. The lawsuit alleges that the university violated the student’s rights as well as Indiana’s vaccine passport law and claims that the students are being coerced into vaccination and if they don’t comply, they face “the threat of virtual expulsion from school.”
Earlier this month, administrators announced that students would have to verify their vaccination status with the school unless they applies for a medical or religious exemption and those without exemptions can have their class schedules canceled, their student ID’s deactivated and won’t be allowed to participate in on-campus activities, according to the lawsuit.
A spokesperson from the University says the requirement for all students and staff to be vaccinated before school resumes, remains in place.
