Passenger Arrested After Jumping Out Of Plane Emergency Exit Door At Charlotte Airport

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A passenger on their flight out of Charlotte Douglas International Airport was arrested Thursday night after opening the emergency exit door of the plane and jumping out.

The flight heading from Charlotte to Baltimore had been delayed two hours and eventually cancelled due to severe weather restricting air traffic, American Airline officials say.

While waiting for the jet bridge to be repositioned, officials say a frustrated passenger opened the over-wing emergency exit and jumped out.

American team members say they detained the passenger before the passenger was placed in custody of Charlotte Mecklenburg Police

American Airline officials say all other passengers were deplaned normally after the incident, and this customer has been placed on American’s internal refuse to fly list pending further investigation.
