Only On WCCB: Statesville Boy Speaks Out About Violence, One Week After Being Shot

STATESVILLE, N.C. — A seven-year-old boy speaks only to WCCB News one week after he was shot while playing outside with friends near his Statesville home.
Maliki Ramseur is one of three children shot during that drive-by shooting last Monday.  8-year-old Ah’Miyahh Howell was killed.  Her cousin, Tariq Lowery was injured.  Statesville Police have made no arrests in this case.
Maliki and his mother Tracy talked to WCCB News about the day they’ll never forget.  They say it happened when Maliki and his big sister walked to a friend’s home on Newbern Avenue.
“All I heard was people speeding in a car, and they started shooting,” says Maliki Ramseur.
“The bullet like went across his back.  The doctor said if he would’ve been going backwards, then it probably would’ve hit him in the neck or the head,” says Tracy Ramseur.
Ah’Miyahh Howell’s family says they believe the shooting happened because of a fight between the possible suspects and a few of their relatives.
WCCB News obtained security camera video from a nearby home.  You can hear the gunman firing dozens of rounds, and then speeding away from the scene.  If you know anything about this case, call Statesville Police.
