While the city’s first ever MLS team, Charlotte FC is set to kick off play next year, you don’t have to wait until 2022 to watch professional soccer in the Queen City.
After playing home games in Matthews, N.C., the Charlotte Independence will make its long awaited return to the heart of the city when the Jacks make their debut at the newly renovated American Legion Memorial Stadium on Wednesday night.
WCCB Sports anchor Kelli Bartik caught up with head coach Mike Jeffries and players, Hugh Roberts and Enzo Martinez, as the team hit the turf to prepare for its match against the New York Red Bulls II.
