Two Men Charged For Firing Shots Within Statesville’s City Limits
STATESVILLE, N.C. — The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office has charged two men after they were accused of shooting firearms outside a Statesville residence, within the city limits, on Monday.
Deputies responded to Park Drive area, around Williams Road, to assist the Statesville Police Department with a report of shots fired in the area. Upon arrival, deputies found multiple .223 rifle caliber and pistol caliber shell casings in the grass and along the sidewalk next to a residence located on Park Drive.
Through an investigation, deputies discovered two suspects, identified as 30-year-old Tyrell Bennett and 26-year-old Jamad Houpe, had been shooting firearms outside the home.
Bennett and Houpe were found to both have Glock .40 caliber handguns on them after they were searched. Following a search Houpe’s vehicle a Palmetto Arms and AR-15 Pistol loaded with a 60 round drum style magazine was found lying on the front seat.
According to deputies, Houpe and Bennett were both charged with misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon and misdemeanor discharging a weapon within the city limits.
