26-Year-Old Charlotte Man Charged For Murder In Kannapolis Homicide Investigation

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — A 26-year-old Charlotte man has been arrested for murder in connection to a Kannapolis homicide case that happened on July 3, according to police.

The Kannapolis Police Department said David Duy-Anh Pham Nguyen was killed in the area of Wightman Oaks Court. After an investigation, Malik Kahlil Crawford was identified as a suspect in the case and arrested Thursday morning without incident in Charlotte by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department before being turned over to the Kannapolis Police Department, who had obtained warrants for his arrest.

According to police, Crawford has been charged with first degree murder, attempted first degree murder, and two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon. He is in the Cabarrus County Jail under no bond.

The investigation is still active and ongoing.

The police department is still trying to locate a white, 2007 Honda Odyssey mini-van, with an Ohio registration plate that reads JKB-4864 that was stolen during this incident.
