Two Maintenance Employees Charged With Stealing From Statesville Storage Facility
IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — Two maintenance employees have been charged with stealing around $3,000 with of merchandise from a Statesville storage facility, according to Iredell County deputies.
The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office said that they have received several reports of breaking and entering into several storage units at a business located on Buffalo Shoals Road over the course of several months. “Numerous items of property had been reported stolen stemming from these reports,” according to deputies.
Following a thorough investigation by deputies, it became apparent an employee or employees were responsible for the crimes. The employees were identified as Thomas Mounts, 53, and Stephanie Mounts, 40, who were responsible for general maintenance at the location, according to a news release.
Deputies received information on Tuesday about stolen property being kept at a camper behind a residence on Troutman Shoals Road. After a search warrant was obtain, investigators conducted a search that led to recovering several items which had been reported as stolen, ranging from power tools, weed eaters, a table saw, air compressors, and various hand tools.
On Wednesday, investigators applied for and received felony arrest warrants for Thomas and Stephanie Mounts. The two suspects were arrested and taken to the Iredell County Detention Center where Thomas Mounts was charged with five counts of felony breaking and entering, five counts of felony larceny after breaking and entering, two counts of felony larceny of a firearm, felony larceny by employee, felony larceny, misdemeanor larceny, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, felony possession with intent to manufacture sell deliver methamphetamine, felony maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of sell and delivering methamphetamine, deputies said.
According to Iredell County officials, Stephanie Mounts was charged with five counts of felony breaking and entering, five counts of felony larceny after breaking and entering, felony larceny by employee, felony larceny of a firearm, felony possession with intent to manufacture sell deliver methamphetamine, felony maintain a dwelling for the purpose of sell and deliver methamphetamine.
