Friends & Family Remember 13-Year-Old Girl Killed in Monroe Drive-By Shooting; 4 Suspects Arrested

MONROE, N.C. – A makeshift memorial is growing at the spot where a 13-year-old girl was killed in a drive-by shooting on Saturday night.

Monroe Police now have four suspects in custody. All are charged with first-degree murder in the death of Loyalti Allah.

“The beautifulist hugeist smile that you could ever see. Her smile would brighten up anyone’s day,” says Sharie Maye, who knew Loyalti.

Grief and anger for dozens gathering at the makeshift memorial on Sunday night.

Crime scene tape is still wrapped around the picnic table where Loyalti sat when someone opened fire.

“All her dreams are gone. All her family dreams are gone that they had for her,” Maye says, “Everything has been shattered, over nonsense.”

Police say a black Ford Freestyle SUV drove by around 8:00 p.m. on Icemorelee Drive.

Someone inside began shooting, before speeding away. Loyalti died at the hospital.

Sunday, police arrested four suspects, 20-year-old Javon Robinson, 19-year-0ld Darius Roland, 22-year-old Jamari Crowder, and 18-year-old Jamari McClain.

“I woulda never thought that it woulda hit this close to home, to the fact that a teenage girl’s life was taken. She hasn’t even got to go to high school, anything,” says Loyalti’s dance teacher, Dee Wells.

She says it’s been difficult explaining what happened to her students.

“Any they like, ‘So that means we’re never gonna see her again?’ and not understanding, it was very shocking, it is very heartbreaking,” she says.
