CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are investigating after a man was shot and killed in west Charlotte early Monday morning, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
Officers responded to Atrium Health around 1:30 a.m. after receiving a call about a shooting victim arriving at the local hospital. The victim, identified as 18-year-old Damontae Austin, was transported by a personal vehicle to the hospital and pronounced dead upon arrival, police said.
During the investigation officers discovered the shooting took place on Avalon Avenue, off of Tuckaseegee Road.
The investigation into this case is active and ongoing.
