Charlotte Woman Uses Dog’s GPS Collar To Find & Destroy Yellow Jacket Nest

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Charlotte woman used her dog’s GPS collar to pinpoint a yellow jackets nest’s location and get it destroyed after a frightening encounter.

Jennifer Puca was out on a hike with her dog Zoe and husband Jason, when they came across a swarm of yellow jackets.

Jason Puca was stung several times and rushed to the emergency room for treatment after the encounter.

Jennifer Puca decided to use map data from her dog Zoe’s Fi GPS tracking collar to pinpoint the nest’s location and get it destroyed, in order to protect other community members.

Jennifer Puca says “We are grateful that we are all ok and Jason is recovering nicely, but also hopeful that we could prevent this from happening to someone else and their dog.”
