Hazy, Hot & Humid

High heat and humidity dominate the second half of the week

There is an Air Quality Alert in effect for Mecklenburg and Cabarrus counties Thursday due to high levels of ground-level ozone.

Due to the flow around the ridge of high pressure, hazy skies will build across the area once again. Not only will it be hazy, it will be HOT! Today, Wednesday, was the hottest temperature so far this year as we reached 95° in Charlotte. I am forecasting even hotter temperatures in the upper 90s on Thursday – factor in the high humidity and it will feel like the triple digits. Hotter than average temperatures control the remainder of the work week before a “cold” front drops temperatures back to average for the weekend. Rain coverage will stay low through the weekend with just isolated showers possible on Friday and Saturday, but increasing to scattered as we close out the weekend.

Tonight: Mostly clear. Low: 72.

Thursday: HOT. Sunny & hazy. High: 98. Feels like 100°+.

Friday: HOT. Sunny & hazy. High: 98. Feels like 100°+.

Stay safe and cool!
