Juvenile Charged After 16-Year-Old Found Fatally Shot In Truck In Rock Hill

ROCK HILL, S.C. — A 15-year-old has been identified as the suspect in a Rock Hill shooting that killed a 16-year-old Monday night, police said.

Officials responded to West Main Street to investigate the fatal shooting that happened in the area. The York County Coroner’s Office said that the victim, identified as Matthew Robertson, was found in his truck by first responders and later pronounced dead at the scene due to a gunshot wound.

Detectives were able to locate the 15-year-old suspect and take them into custody. The juvenile was charged with murder, possession of a handgun by a person under 18, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and unlawful carrying of a firearm, according to officials.

The juvenile, that remains unidentified due to their age, was detained and transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice in Columbia.

The case is being investigated as a homicide.
