Meck Co. Health Leaders Urge Indoor Masking, Even for the Vaccinated

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Mecklenburg County health leaders are urging everyone to mask up indoors, regardless of vaccination status.

It comes amid a rise in “breakthrough” cases among those fully vaccinated.

For now, the county will not impose a mask mandate, though businesses will be urged to again require masks indoors.

“You put on a mask to protect yourself, you put on a mask to protect others. And that’s where we are again with this virus, unfortunately,” says Mecklenburg Co. Health Director Gibbie Harris.

Wednesday, Mecklenburg County reported close to 400 new COVID cases. That’s a big increase considering this time last month, the county was averaging less than 50 a day.
