Heat Alerts in Effect for Friday

Oppressive heat and humidity dominate Friday

There is an Air Quality Alert in effect for Mecklenburg, Cabarrus and Union counties on Friday due to high levels of ground-level ozone. Due to the flow around the ridge of high pressure, hazy skies are once again building across the region. Not only is it hazy, it is HOT!

Heat Advisories are in effect for Stanly, Anson and Richmond counties on Friday as heat indices could reach 105Β°. For more on heat safety, click here.

We are once again expecting actual high temperatures in the mid to upper 90s on Friday, but with higher humidity we will see heat indices between 102-107 degrees. A “cold” front will drop temperatures back to average for the weekend with highs near 90. Rain coverage will be isolated on Friday and Saturday, but increasing to scattered as we close out the weekend. Next week will be below average with highs in the 80s with scattered showers each day.

Tonight: Partly Cloudy. Low: 75.

Friday: HOT. Sunny & hazy. Isolated showers/storm. High: 98. Feels like 102Β°+.

Saturday: Mostly sunny. Isolated showers/storm. High:92.

Stay safe and cool!
