UNC Charlotte Mandates Masks For Both The Unvaccinated And Vaccinated

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The FDA is moving as fast as it can to give a full approval to the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. That’s according to Dr. Peter Marks, the Director of the Agency’s Center for Biological Evaluation and Research. While Dr. Marks could not give a specific timeline, he says the FDA will not lower its scientific standards to green-light the vaccine.

As of now, all COVID vaccines, including Pfizer’s, currently have only an emergency use approval. But medical officials and business leaders said a full approval would help fight vaccine hesitancy, especially at the time when new COVID cases are surging.

Also new Monday: UNC Charlotte is requiring everyone, regardless of vaccination status, to wear masks indoor while on campus. School leaders say that decision comes amid rising COVID cases, and the high rate of transmission in Mecklenburg County. The only exceptions are when students are in their dorms, and staff are in their personal offices. Officials say they will continue to asses the data, and make changes when needed.

Our question of the night: do you think the mask mandate should be permanent for the school year?
