Charlotte’s Premier Comedy Festival Returns To Uptown This Fall
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Get ready for a full week of laughs as the Queen City Comedy Experience returns to Uptown Charlotte this fall.
The comedy festival will feature performances from several dozen local and national acts from September 7th through September 12th at different venues in Uptown.
Officials with the Blumenthal Performing Arts, Queen City Comedy, and The Comedy Zone say comedians Nikki Glaser, Steve-O, Jeanne Robertson, Beer Shark Mice, Nurse Blake, Comedy Dance Chicago, The Chris & Paul Show, plus Jon Reep and Ali Siddiq will headline the fall festival.
“We are very excited to have big names in stand-up and improv this year, like Nikki Glaser and David Koechner with Beer Shark Mice, as well as Steve-O from Jackass presenting his show for adults only,” says Queen City Comedy Experience producer Joe Hunsaker.
Local stand-up comedians and improv troupes including Tara Brown, Don Garrett, Johnny Millwater, Now Are The Foxes, Improv Charlotte, and more will also perform at the festival (with the full lineup of performers to be announced at a later date).
Festival officials say spaces within Spirit Square will be transformed into hip comedy clubs for the large variety of performances expected to take place, ranging from comedy acts, stand-up shows, improv troupes, dance and music groups, films, live podcast tapings and more.
Headliner and native North Carolinian Jon Reep says “The rafters are gonna shake, the biscuits are gonna bake, come one, come all, tell everybody you know, we’re gonna have a ball!”
General Admission tickets and VIP tickets are on sale now at blumenthalarts.org.
VIP tickets are limited and will give the recipient access to premium seating for all headliner events, exclusive parties, and meet-and-greets with some of their favorite performers.
Hunsaker says, “This is more than just a festival. With headliners like Ali Siddiq jumping on smaller shows with local up-and-coming comedians and Jon Reep hosting parties and doing podcasts in the Spirit Square lobby, it becomes a true ‘comedy experience’ for audiences and the local performers. The VIP Pass is like winning a classic MTV contest, you get access to meet-and-greets and private parties in addition to your awesome seats for every show, creating a unique experience for the patron.”
Officials with the Blumenthal Performing Arts say they are closely following CDC recommendations regarding COVID-19 safety guidelines, and all festivalgoers will be required to wear a mask indoors in all of their venues regardless of vaccination status.
