Truist Field Set To Host Annual Chief’s Cup Baseball Game On September 11th

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (News Release) – Truist Field, home of the Charlotte Knights since 2014, will host a special 20th Anniversary Tribute on September 11, 2021 thanks to the Salute to Heroes Foundation. The annual Chief’s Cup baseball game, which features the CMPD Blue Hornets against the CFD Blaze, will take place beginning at 6:00 p.m. on September 11th.

Gates for this event will open at 5:00 p.m. and the evening’s festivities will include an extensive pre-game ceremony featuring special first pitches from local first responders and former NYPD and FDNY members who responded to the call on September 11, 2001. Additionally, a September 11th Mobile Memorial featuring steel from the Twin Towers will be on display courtesy of the FF Steven Coakley Foundation.

In addition to the game, the Salute to Heroes Foundation will be honoring current heroes and those that made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001. The Charlotte Fire Department Pipes and Drums Band will also be on hand to perform. The special evening will be capped off by a patriotic-themed post-game fireworks show.

This year’s event is sponsored by the Charlotte Knights, Truist, Harris Teeter, Charlotte Hyundai dealers and Roof Medic.
