Charlotte Woman Grieves Loss Of Two Children, Killed Months Apart
CHARLOTTE — A Charlotte woman is grieving the loss of her two children, both killed violently just months apart.
Last week, Antoinette Austin buried her only child, 18-year-old Damontae Austin. He was shot and killed on Avalon Avenue in July. Back in May, Austin’s step daughter, four-year-old Mejellic Young, was found buried in the backyard of her mother’s home in northwest Charlotte. Jelli, as she was called, would have turned 5-years-old Wednesday.
Austin says parents need to keep a closer watch over their children.
“We get more parents then maybe these kids will stop doing the stuff that they doing because it’s not the adults that’s out here killing it’s kids that’s out here killing,” says Antoinette Austin.
