Frying Friday, Rainy & Cooler Weekend

The 90s continue into the first half of the weekend before showers and storms cool us down into the third week of August.

Coming in at 95° apiece, the Wednesday and Thursday have been tied for the hottest days we’ve seen all year – and we may make a trifecta Friday afternoon. Plentiful sunshine and healthy breezes out of the southwest will once again raise temperatures into the 80s and 90s across the WCCB Charlotte viewing area on this final day of the workweek. Of course, pop-up showers and storms will keep things cooler locally, but not until we’re past the peak heating of the day. However, those of us searching for cooler weather are going to like the forecast ahead.

A cold front draped across the Midwest and Rust Belt will continue to sag southward over the coming days, further bumping up rain chances and bringing cooler conditions across the Carolinas by the second half of the weekend. The arrival of Tropical Depression Fred early next week will only make things wetter. Prepare for mostly cloudy skies to go along with widespread gusty showers and storms from Sunday into Wednesday of next week. Highs will struggle to get out of the 60s and 70s through the first half of the week ahead.
